UMWEG / DETOUR

During my artistic residency at the Fondacion Nairs by Scuol, i discovered the immediate area on foot or by bike and i particularly enjoyed the path that connected our residency with the village of Scuol. That is until i discovered relicts of a national high-way, which was taken back by nature after the new highway bypassed it. I then set to map and document the route in every way i could. I took pictures and shot videos, walked it on every time of day and night and noticed the differences between the 2 roads, practically belonging to different universes.

On one hand we have the fast connection, cold, dry, empty, faceless and on the other there is this hidden paradise, slow, bewildering and humid. The Inn flows at the bottom of the valley, and sometimes small bridges allow us to swap sides. In all, there is life under the big bridge that bypasses Nairs.
